Witchcraft is both a Faith and a Craft.  As a faith - like other faith, its purpose is to put the individual and group in harmony with Divine creative principle of the Cosmos, and its manifestations, at all levels.  As a Craft, its purpose is to achieve practical ends by psychic means, for good, useful healing purpose.  In both aspects, the distinguishing characteristics are its Nature-based attitude - I am part of nature. Nature is part of me.  A philosophy of creative polarity at all levels - sun - moon, positive - negative, light - dark.

BIDE THE WITCHES' RULE OF CONDUCT YOU MUST, WITH COMPLETE DEVOTION AND COMPLETE CONFIDENCE.  THESE EIGHT WORDS THE WITCHES' ETHIC PUT INTO EFFECT, CAUSE NO PHYSICAL OR MENTAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO NONE, YOUR CHOICE.  AND EVER OBEY, THE RULE WHAT EVER IS SENT RETURNS THREE TIMES STRONGER.  HOW YOU TREAT ANY LIVING THING WILL RETURN, FOLLOW THIS WITH INTELLECT AND COMPASSION,  AND MERRY WE MEET, AND MERRY WE PART.

MIND EXALATION: The future can be shaped.  The future is shaped largely by intention backed by action.  The stronger the intention and the better its backed-up by action, the more solid the future will tend to be.

February 2nd Imbloc - One of the great witch Sabbats.  Traditions associated with this time of year include weather divination, personal power raising, new beginnings, spiritual growth, healing.
February 2nd Candlemas -  is a Fire festival and in certain traditions of Wicca, is dedicated to goddess Brigid.  Spells involving sacred groves and wells, candle blessings, candle scrying and candle-burning rituals.
February 2nd Groundhog Day -   The weather forcasting ritual gives a glimmer of hope for an early spring.  If a hibernating groundhog casts a shadow at Imbloc, winter wil last another six weeks.  If no shadow is seen then spring will be delayed.  Over many generations the animal forcast have been accurate.

Feburary 1 to 29: Ethnic Equality Month--Time to honor all peoples and their positive traditions; time to meditate on the equality of all peoples, on the respect due to them, and on God-Goddess manifesting as African, Asian, Oceanic, Middle Eastern, European, Hispanic, and Native American.

Feburary 5 to 6: Feast of Old Romano-Egyptian Goddess Isis, the Healer--recalls Set (God of Challenges and Chaos) poisoning child God Horus, and Isis intervening, defeating Set, and healing Horus. [Roman calendar )

February 5th - Saint Agatha of Sicily (died traditionally 251) is a Christian saint. Her memorial is on 5 February. Agatha[4] was born at Catania, Sicily, and she was martyred in approximately 251. She is one of seven women, excluding the Blessed Virgin Mary, commemorated by name in the Canon of the Mass.[5]   She is the patron saint of Catania, Molise, Malta, San Marino and Zamarramala, Spain. Among other things, she is also the patron of martyrs, wet nurses, fire, earthquakes, and eruptions of Mount Etna.   In the legend of her life, we are told that she belonged to a rich, important family. When she was young, she dedicated her life to God and resisted any men who wanted to marry her or have sex with her. One of these men, Quintian, was of a high enough rank that he felt he could force her to acquiesce. Knowing she was a Christian in a time of persecution, he had her arrested and brought before the judge - - himself. He expected her to give in to when faced with torture and possible death, but she simply affirmed her belief in God.   Because one of the tortures she supposedly suffered was to have her breasts cut off, she was often depicted carrying her breasts on a plate. It is thought that blessing of the bread that takes place on her feast may have come from the mistaken notion that she was carrying loaves of bread. Prayer: Saint Agatha, you suffered sexual assault and indignity because of your faith. Help heal all those who are survivors of sexual assault and protect those women who are in danger.

Feburary 7 (4:54 p.m. EST): Full Moon (Cold/Seed Moon). [a/k/a Aquarius Full Moon]

February 8th - Septuagesima (in full, Septuagesima Sunday) is the name for the ninth Sunday before Easter, the third before Ash Wednesday. The term is sometimes applied also to the period that begins on this day and ends on Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday, when Lent begins. This period is also known as the pre-Lenten season or Shrovetide. The other two Sundays in this period of the liturgical year are called Sexagesima and Quinquagesima, the latter sometimes also called Shrove Sunday.   The 17-day period beginning on Septuagesima Sunday was intended to be observed as a preparation for the season of Lent, which is itself a period of spiritual preparation (for Easter). In many countries, however, Septuagesima Sunday still marks the traditional start of the carnival season, culminating on Shrove Tuesday, sometimes known as Mardi Gras.

Feburary 13 to 15: Lupercalia/St. Valentine's Day--Old Roman festival of God-Goddess Faunus- Fauna; merged with the Christian feast of St. Valentine - celebrating love of all kinds.

February 14th Valentine's Day - is a time when love energy abounds.  This is a favorable time for the brewing of love filters, casting love enchantments, love amulets, and preforming of rituals to divine one's future mate.   St. Valentine's - Roman martyr priest died c.270.  Possibly by association with a pagan festival, his feast, is the day of lovers.    The custom if Giving Hearts on Valentine's day - this was the day Druids removed the heart from a white bull, to examine it for omens for the Summer to come

Feburary 21 (5:35 p.m. EST): New Moon.

Feburary22: Caristia--Old Roman festival for renewing family ties and patching up quarrels. [Roman calendar]

Feburary 22 eve to 23 eve: Anthesterion Noumenia--Old Greek festival honoring all the Gods and Goddesses. Flutes were played; prayers were said; offerings of barley, olive oil, incense, and food were burned in an offering hearth; and libations of water and wine were made. [Anthesterion 1]

February 23rd - Pure Monday The common term for this day, "Clean Monday", refers to the leaving behind of sinful attitudes and non-fasting foods. It is sometimes called "Ash Monday," by analogy with Ash Wednesday (the day when the Western Churches begin Lent). The term is often a misnomer, as only a small subset of Eastern Churches practice the Imposition of Ashes. The Maronite Catholic Church is a notable Eastern rite that employs the use of Ashes on this day. "Remember, Man is dust, and unto dust you shall return." Ashes are a symbol of penance made sacramental by the blessing of the Church, and they help us develop a spirit of humility and sacrifice.

February 24th - Shrove Tuesday As far back as 1000 AD, "to shrive" meant to hear confessions. (Trivia note: the term survives today in the expression "short shrift" or giving little attention to anyone's explanations or excuses.) Historically, Shrove Tuesday also marked the beginning of the 40-day Lenten fasting period when the faithful were forbidden to consume meat, butter, eggs or milk.

February 25th - Ash Wednesday Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Season of Lent. It is a season of penance, reflection, and fasting which prepares us for Christ's Resurrection on Easter Sunday, through which we attain redemption.

Feburary 25 eve to 26 eve: Feast of Old Greek Deities Aphrodite and Eros--Day to honor love and passion. [Anthesterion 4]   Feburary 27 eve to 28 eve: Feast of Old Greek Goddess Artemis (Roman Diana/Slavic Diwitsa) - as creatrix, midwife of birthing creatures, protector of the young, and punisher of child abusers. [Anthesterion 6]

Feburary /29: Old Slavic Velja Noc/Great Night/New Year's Eve--Spirits of the dead visit their living relatives, overseen by Veles, Lord of the Dead. People wearing animal masks and wool cloaks wandered through the villages representing the dead, and a grain effigy of the Morana of the old year was burned. Morana and Jarilo are born of Solntse (Goddess of the Sun) and Perun (God of the Sky). Veles steals Jarilo and raises him in Virey, realm of the dead. [a/k/a Wielkanoc]
