On the Celtic calendar the Holly represents the month July 8 to August 4.
In the Battle of the Tress, the Cad Goddeu, the Holly was ranked as a shrub:
THE HOLLY, DARK GREEN, MADE A RESOLUTE STAND; HE IS ARMED WITH MANY SPEAR POINTS WOUNDING THE HAND.
In God form, the Holly is known as the Cu Chulain. The Holly is connected to the Major Arcana card, the Chariot in the Tarot deck. The lesson from the Chariot was that the past would be accepted and a new perspective would take hold for some type of movement. The experience lived have been difficult, but processed, and old forms are now outgrown so action occurs. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
On the Esbat, in July acknowledge the blessings which have been bestowed.
Show some type of appreciation for the people who support on a daily basis.
Thank them for their positive influence in your life.
Beneath the Full Moon take time to honor ancestors who have passed on into the Other World, who champion the cause to grow and mature to be the best you can be. Your spiritual family who inspire you to do their will and give courage and strength to face the unknown.
Be grateful for spring, the beginning of life; be grateful for summer, bask in the beauty; be grateful for fall, for the harvest; be grateful for winter, the cold barren lands that allow you to appreciate what's to come; be grateful for spring, the birth of life once again, sprung.
