The Rowan Tree

On the Celtic calendar, January 21 to February 17, is the month of the Rowan tree, ranked shrub in the Cad Goddeu, the Battle of the Trees: WILLOW AND ROWAN WERE TARDY IN ARRAY

The Rowan tree appears delicate yet can live and prosper where hardier trees can not.  The Rowan tree is respected for its protective properties.  In God form, the Rowan tree represents Math, the Ancient, and a great wizard of true magic.

The Rowan tree is connected to the Hierophant in the Tarot deck.  The Major Acrana card revolves around learning a great deal of information on a profound level. The Hierophant can be an older person who has reached a good station in life, who tells the secrets of life.  Based on high standards and moral character, they give advice in love and compassion to help others comprehend spiritual power, divine law, laws of tradition and the law of nature.  The learning, teaching, listening, and speaking brings positive results.  The Hierophant is able to transform the mundane into the spiritual.

SUGGESTED ACTIVITY-

Beneath the light of the Full Moon, stretch out upon the frozen ground a card board box, then sit, cross legs with your back against the bark of a Rowan tree if you can.  If not a tree your energies feel compatible with.  A beeswax candle lit, placed in a holder, by the glow commune with your Spirit Guide.  Request a positive new attitude toward_______________(love, work, thought, health).  Pray for a new beginning, that you're prepared to nurture through the change in seasons.
