The stars shone brightly on the black background in speckled patterns. Lines from a poem written by Dante floated through Avril’s mind, “Follow, but thy star, thou canst not miss at last a glorious heaven.”
Avril had a sense of her connection to the basic elements, the forces and forms of energy; solid, gaseous, electric and liquid. The varied proportions of earth, air, fire and water in all matter coursed through her entire being. Avril was thankful for the energy from all kingdoms of nature so she could mature and form an expression.
Born from earth, air, fire and water, Avril knew that she, too, followed nature’s cycles, the brief moments of time of each season. A continuous cycle of birth, life and death. Avril thought to herself that she was grateful for spring, the beginning of life, she was grateful for summer - to bask in beauty, grateful for autumn - for the harvest and bounty, grateful for winter - the cold barren lands that allow her to appreciate all that was, is, and what’s to come, the birth of life once again in the spring.
Avril blessed the Moon, Sun and Earth energies - their unity that brings forth a wealth of foliage and vegetation. She gave thanks for the vegetables, fruits, grains and the animals whose life force is sacrificed so she can survive. She sent a blessing out to those who have entered her life; to her friends in the sisterhood, their siblings and her foes who teach the mutual roles of compassion, conflict and forgiveness, to her mentors and parents for bestowing the social behaviors and intellectual knowledge to exist within the whole, to her Mother and Father whose love and touch gave her physical life and Avril’s Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, for the friendships that have formed. She gave thanks to the immense universe for the space to allow her soul to soar.
Then, she gave great consideration to her guides who reside in the not world, but are very much alive - angel, guides, archetypes, the Creator, and her spiritual family who inspire and give her the courage and strength to face the unknown. Others may attempt to challenge so Avril would alter her path, yet she will try to display grace under pressure for she knew she didn’t journey alone. There are Spirit Guides who enter her dreams, visions and rituals to show her the way to accomplish her goals. They give Avril the eyes to see so her heart will know how to manifest her potential in the physical world. She has trust in her higher self. Her ego is kept in check for alone she achieves nothing.
Avril thanked her Angel Guides, Archetypes, her Spiritual family, for their breath that flows through her and offers a universe full of possibilities and opportunities for her to explore. All was silent as her mind drifted outward and connected with the invisible. Her inner being awoke and tingled while energies stirred. Every fiber of her body electrified as an energetic energy flowed into her head, down along her spine and traveled outward inside her entire body. She channeled all her powers so she could communicate with the spirits. The distinct basic elemental instruments could be heard. It was a pleasing melody to the ear. The musical sounds vibrated inward from the Four Quarters. In the North, a strong beat from drums. The strum from an array of string instruments accompanied from the South. Flutes, the oldest wind instrument, blew a harmonious melody in from the East and bells in scale rang in succession to attract attention from the West. Suddenly, ghostly silhouettes appeared. These were the images of Avril’s Spiritual family who dwell in the invisible other realm. Generations of her family and friends, who had passed on in the physical world, danced in rhythm above her physical frame. They seemed as real as any other living thing. The music grew loud and sweet. The shadowy figures were flexible and agile while they whirled and twirled in a circular arrangement.
Avril’s body quivered and her heart raced as she returned to normal consciousness. She was amazed by the love she had from the other side. For a brief time she was reminded what it was like to be an energy being. To sense all, to see all, to know all, but can’t touch. She had craved within to hug, to hold, to embrace, the ones who had come to visit and were truly dear to her. She heard herself say aloud into the night sky, “Thank you for giving me the days to live the fragile existence we call life.”
When Avril sat up to leave, her fist that held the lotus bloom was clenched. She opened her hand and it was no surprise that the lotus bloom had disappeared from her grip. Her offering had been accepted.
