The legend of a red dragon and a white dragon that invisibly battled high above the clouds each year on the eve of Beltaine. Even though unseen by some, the fierce noise had the ability to leave all in terror. People locked their homes tightly, but the howling turbulent winds they created gushed through the cracks and seams leaving those within pale and petrified of the unknown. Women miscarried, not a cow gave milk and the chicken coops were barren of any eggs. year after year the altercation took place until a fair and wise man named Lludd was crowned and placed upon his rightful throne. Lludd’s brother, Llevelyn, ruler in France, brought his knowledge of magic to help bring peace between the two restless beasts. The two men, following protocol, met off the French coast. At anchor they shifted with the current. To keep their words safe from evil intent they spoke through horns made from brass. King Llevelyn told his brother, Lludd, how to rid his kingdom of the two dueling dragons.
He was to assign his greatest wizard, the one who practiced the hidden and complicated secrets of the old world, to contact the powers in the existing parallel universe and request their assistance in the physical realm. A wise one that has examined patterns of every terrestrial thing and knew how to manipulate the forces of nature. Lludd was to be sure the wizard had years of study and knew all elements in creation no matter what class. The king was told to assemble his mapmakers who had patterns drawn on a flat surface picturing by scale and projection each and every geographic position. They were to combine both their skills and knowledge and have them follow the ley-lines to the center point beneath the earth’s crust. Then on the next eve of Beltaine, Lludd was to dig a hole waist level and place a large black cauldron inside. He was to fill it to the brim with the fermented drink mead, a mixture of honey, yeast and water. Once done, a silken cloth was to be laid to cover the drink and a large stone slab placed at the very edge.
Come nightfall, Lludd would hear the dragons cry their battle call. Against the darkened skies, high above the clouds, the two would appear in disguise. First, a pair of eagles will soar and tear violently at one another. The two will change their shape into bears and box it out, then shape shift again into two cocks and rain down blood and feathers onto the ground.
Lludd was told that only for a moment would their real forms appear before shape shifting into pigs and drop to the silken cloth and into their waiting food trough, the cauldron willed with mead. They will still fight while they feast but, once full, the two would fall asleep. Llevelyn said to them up inside the silk cloth, remove the cauldron, place them back in the hole then seal the entrance by laying the slab of stone over the entrance. Thus, the trouble would be over and peace would reign again.
Lludd followed every instruction given to the letter. The red and white dueling dragons were tricked and imprisoned. On every Mayday eve to follow the people celebrated in the blessing of a peaceful life.
Five hundred years after Lludd’s kingdom’s ordeal most forgot the past horror. A king named Vortigern of the Britons was surrounded in battle. He decided to build his fortress on the very spot where the two dragons slept. The site seemed strong and stable yet every attempt made in the daylight to construct buildings, overnight would fall flat to the ground in ruins.
The original Merlin at the age of a young boy explained the mystery to Vortigern. Beneath his chosen site to build lay a pit submerged with five hundred years of rain. No structure would hold for there was no more than mire and mud beneath the earth’s crust. The young Merlin also revealed the tale of the two dragons and warned the king of the grave mistake it would be to disturb their rest.
Vortigern paid no attention and commanded his workers to excavate. They did as they were told and with each puncture, water oozed. The king demanded the water be drained and the mud cleared. Once this was done King Vortigern told a young boy in the crowd to chisel through the stone that laid at the entrance. The child fell backwards onto the ground when the remainder of the lid exploded outward. A bellow of smoke rose followed by a bolt of fire straight up to the heavens. When the two dragons appeared inside the vision the crowd ran for cover. The two scaly, fire breathing beasts began their battle. The continued for hours until the white dragon, tired and bloodied, was finally beaten down. This was the red dragon’s opportunity to claim victory. Heartlessly, he drove the white dragon to Snowdon and left him for dead.
The red dragon enjoyed his triumph. He flew over the towns, farms and villages and then disappeared.
A dragon that reeked of fire and brimstone and a saint dressed in protective silver took to battle. High up in the sky, deep in the sea and solid on land the two fought for life. Even though the dragon attacked fiercely the saint won. He had previously dipped a sharpened spear into a poison. With great power he tossed the weapon upward hitting his target, the heel of the mighty dragon.
Forced from the sky and in excruciating pain the dragon dragged his wounded body onto the ground. The dragon, after a long struggle, reached three stones by the sea and laid his weary body to rest, the earth absorbed the active energy of the greatly feared and flying reptile deep within her belly.
In 1188 it was announced by Commander Giraldus Cambrenis that Ireland was free from all dragons and all who honored the great beast. One reason for the intervention was probably because St. Patrick converted many to the Catholic faith.
The Roman legions came onto the Britons lands they preached that their god was superior to all others and they were made in his image. The men placed themselves high on pedestals and commanded the women to be a weaker race and no more useful than to serve their wants and needs. The Catholic priests could not easily convince the earth people to sway their opinions. Merlin, wise women, Celts and pagans knew that there was a connecting power throughout the universe. For not changing their belief they were shamed as the enemy.
The priests traveled the lands. They told all that both the dragon and earth people were associated with evil, destruction and the Catholic satan forces. Credited their persecution to driving the pagan faith underground.
On Beltaine eve the universe is composed of active energy that people have the ability to reach out, feel, be influenced by and join with other energy systems. This was their universal right.
Terrestrial magnetism is based on the assumption that the earth is a gigantic magnet. An attraction that runs, circulates, meets and passes through one another. Within the soil runs a grid work pattern of energy which connects every sea to every shore. No one knows where they begin or end as some surge twisting their way up to the surface. The grid is called dragon lines or ley-lines.
The mystical dragon was symbolic of earth and the magnetic line of force; Air, the movement caused by the dragons’ wings created the wind currents; Fire, the dragons’ energy is considered the magnetic force, the spark of life; Water, the dragons’ blood, the lakes, rivers, streams, any and all bodies of water the dragons’ breath, mist and fog; and Earth, the body of the dragon, the stones, the bones, the soil, the skin.
In the nineteenth century the rationalists argued that God was originally simply the chief over many gods and that ‘HE’ absorbed the attributes of ‘HIS’ fellow divinities. Slowly ‘HE’ became one God.
In the bible the cardinal summary of divine law given by God to Moses on Mt. Sinai follows. The Commandments that are of primary importance in the ethical systems of Christianity went as follows: One God shall be worshipped and not adored in graven images; not to profane the name of the Lord; keep the Sabbath holy; honor parents; not to kill; not to give ourselves away to lust; not to steal; not to bear false witness; not to covet a neighbor’s wife and not to covet a neighbor’s goods.
The Christian religion practices bear a great resemblance to the craft because their rituals and full rites are based directly upon Drudic Doctrine. When the womanhood was purged from the hill the Druids of Anglesy, they took refuge. The priesthood formed a unique order know as the ‘CHURCH OF THE CULDEES,’ on the Scottish Island of Iona. The “under cover” men of Christian Sanction incorporated the similarities in the two beliefs. It was a paganized Catholic priesthood.
During the Middle Ages, the Druid’s priesthood spent their days in seclusion. They recorded first-hand observation of experiments which took place in natural law, the ways of the universe and earth. When the day came, the church officials felt there was no need for the Druid’s the priesthood went underground fearing for their lives but they were not forgotten.
The priesthood became known as “the GNOSTICS.” which meant ‘ONE WHO KNOWS.’ As the years passed, the church acquired great acreages of land, cathedrals, monasteries, and immense, towering abbeys were erected. The once wild country was overrun with huge watchtowers so the church could watch over people and see their investments grow. Within the walls of the sturdy buildings, the churchmen carefully studied and interpreted the works of Roman, Greek, and Celtic historians and philosophers. In their research they found everything was in its place with a function and nothing was left out. The monks defined the architecture of the Universe. Everything was put into a pattern which created a harmonious connection.
The divine power was God who sat on a throne in the heaven heights. Three orders of angels followed. The first level were beings of divine thought. The angel’s love song controlled the direction and movement of heavenly body in space. The second level of angels kept all the cycles and rhythms of the natural world in place. The third was man. He was blessed with the faculty of divine thought but also the ability to experience the earthly phenomenon by free will. Man, himself, tamed the wild world how he saw fit. Limitations were built and boundaries drawn so people could live as a harmonious whole, just as God had done in heaven. Beneath man were farm and domestic animals that were of some use to humans. Then came animal creatures like starfish or snails that lacked some form of sense. The living and growing but immobile and without sensibility came next. The lowest were all the inanimate objects like gems and stones. The monks gathered and preserved their findings then took painstaking time to categorize everything into a class, rank, and a leader. From the history, the monks recorded that all elements in creation were laced together by mirrored web-lines and patterns of correspondence. This is what come to be: AS ABOVE, SO BELOW. Everything in nature had a special attribute, function, and an opposite. Magic became like a science and some of the monk scholars in the era developed into menacing wizards. Instead of balancing nature’s energies, the wizards attempted to master it. They would conjure up the dark forces of nature for their own ego gratification. Dark magic was able to perpetuate and inter-weave with Christian ways. The purity in the intent of magic seemed to greatly change. The monks devised an adversary to the God, the Devil. He was the epitome of temptation, discord, destruction, and darkness. The bodyless angels that were immortal spirits were limited in knowledge and power. Good angels were accepted as intermediate beings between God and man. They live in heaven yet are able to visit earth in visible or invisible form. The bible speaks of angels who protect man and nation. They will appear when we are in crisis mode. The dark angels were the closest to the devil’s side. They are the evil counterpart of the heavenly host. They come to earth to lead man into temptation and enjoy all its undesirable pleasure in abandonment. But in the end, the devil would devour all love from their being and capture the soul to do his bidding.
The religious figures who practiced the art of wizardry found that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Power plays for instant gratification would be for short term for the joy would be overshadowed by what was to come.
