According to ancient occult tradition of England, the third day immediately following a new moon is "an inauspicious day for most undertakings. Also, beware of new moons falling on a Saturdays or Sundays, for these are said to be followed by bad luck and foul weather. Old lunar lore from Pagan Britain states that pointing a finger at the new moon invites bad luck into your life. Interestingly, this belief eventually found its way into the realm of Christian superstition, where it held that pointing at the moon nine times kept a person from going to heaven. It is doubtful that the number nine was chosen for it superstition by mere chance as it has always been regarded as the most msgickal of all numbers by Witches, magicians, and those who dabble in the occult.
The number nine has been called the "number of perfection." The number nine, being the result of the number three -a number linked to the Triple Goddess, the Holy Trinity, moon magick, pyramid power and the triangle - multiplied by itself is said to be the most sacred and magickal of all numbers. Numerologists also add occult significance to the number nine is multiplied by, the digits of the resulting number will always add up to nine.
May 19: Old Celtic/Irish feast in which sacred healing wells and springs were adorned with flowers in honor of Goddess Brigid, daughter of Mother Goddess Danu and Father God Dagda. The Celts also threw offerings into the wells and springs.
The Goddess, Brid is the daughter of the Great God, Dagna, who had great skill in all his undertakings. Her father is the ruler of the Tautha d' Dannan "The Land of the Little People." Her foster mother is the Lady of the Lake, a well-known magical instructor. The two empowered her with wisdom and the beauty of nature.
Brid was born at dawn. Her beauty was seen as the dark began to fade and bright light emerged.
When we feel low, we call upon Brid to help energize and motivate ourselves. She instructs us to follow our intuition. Learning to listen to the eternal nudges leads us to a real solution. It will help to take control to promote a needed change.

Fire - white beeswax candle - Lady and Lord together and meditation
Water - rain water gathered and blessed at the last full moon
Place the white beeswax candle, carnation, and bowl with herb mixture center. Sprinkle the rain (with the hand you write with) around you in a clockwise (deosil, movement is symbolic of life, positive energies) direction to connect the four elements, north-earth, east-water, south-fire, west-air, and then north and say: "I PURIFY THIS SPACE, CHANGING FORM, BECOMING A SACRED CIRCLE, REQUESTING ONLY LOVE SHALL EMERGE."
Rest yourself before the lit white, beeswax candle, hands on knees, palms up. Sit and focus on the burning flame. Take a few deep breaths. Gingerly, sprinkle the herb mixture onto the fire and say: BRID, I REQUEST YOU SHARE YOUR LIGHT AND, STRENGTH, PLEASE GUIDE.
With hands on knees, palms up meditate while focusing on the flame. Allow the candle to burn down. Write down in your Book of Shadows everything you saw, heard and felt.
Say farewell to Brid. Give thanks for her presence. Stand pierce the air at waist level with you receptive hand ( the hand through which energy is received into the body) and walk anti-clockwise motion visualizing the energy entering your hand, up your arm and then into your entire body.
