The Hazel Tree
On the Celtic calendar, the Hazel tree represents August 5 to September 1.
The Hazel tree is related to the birch tree and bears light brown edible nuts in the fall. Hazel wood, in spell work, heightens senses and can be designed as an all round wise woman's wand. Forked hazel twigs are among the favorite to find water and buried treasure. Twigs and leaves worn in a cap will attract good luck or allow a wish to be granted.
In the Cad Goddeu, the Battle of the Trees, the Hazel was ranked a shrub; THE HAZEL WAS THE ARBITER AT THIS CHARMED TIME.
In God form the Hazel tree represents Branwen. The Hazel tree is connected to the High Priestess in the Tarot deck. The High Priestess, represents having faith in the power of one's own intuition and inner knowledge to gain wisdom and move forward. The High Priestess, withdraws from involvement and allows events to proceed without intervention.
