"Every race has its holy centers, places where the Veil is thinnest.

These places were developed by the wisdom of the past,

Until a powerful spiritual atmosphere was engendered there

And consciousness could easily open to the subtler planes

Where the messengers of God come to meet it."

(Dion Fortune, 'Glastonbury')

Most of mankind does not seek after spiritual truth nearly so much as it seeks the mystery of the Spirit...of life and existence.

The beginning and end of July bring a welcome reprieve from challenging transits occurring throughout the rest of the month. The middle of July, though ... well, that's another story.

On July 3, the full Moon rises in Capricorn, leaving you torn between using your brain or following your heart. The only real solution, of course, will be one that allows you to do both!

Also on July 3, Mars leaves Virgo to trot into Libra. For the next few weeks, you'll want to channel most of your energy toward individual relationships. Proactive cooperation will be vital at this time.

After July 3's burst of activity, the stars seem to shut down for a ten-day siesta ... and that's when the trouble begins.

Picture
First, Uranus turns retrograde on July 13, when any innovative plans you had will need to be reconsidered. Make sure you focus first on inner changes geared toward self-improvement -- and then you can worry about the outer world.

Then, on July 15, Mercury turns retrograde. You can hope for the best all you want over the ensuing weeks, but be prepared for Murphy's Law to kick into high gear!

Also on July 15, the Sun squares off unpleasantly against Saturn, making setbacks the order of the day. All you can do is face your mistakes, find solutions and move on.

Next, Mars comes along, first squaring Pluto on July 17 before opposing Uranus on July 19. These aspects can lead to explosive, frustrating and high-strung days during which you'll be very accident-prone and want to act rashly. You'll want to exercise caution as you simply grit your teeth and do your best to grin and bear it.

Fortunately, Jupiter will be there to help out on both July 17, when it pairs up with Mars, and on July 22, when it teams with Uranus. The giant, jovial planet will bring positive energy to help counter the difficulties of the preceding days.

Also on July 22, the Sun moves into fiery and colorful Leo, a transit that will boost your social life, bestow merriment and bring you more parties and entertainment than you'll know what to do with!

Finally, after another lengthy cosmic respite in late July, the month ends on a high note as Uranus forms a pleasant trine with the Sun on July 31 -- and opens doors to new possibilities!

This forecast is only a taste of what's on tap this month -- there's so much more astrological activity happening behind the scenes of your personal chart. To give you the full scoop, Astrology.com is excited to present your personalized July Forecast,

How often do you do something simply because you love doing it?

Think about it for a moment: we spend the majority of our lives doing things because they “need” to be done or because we feel an obligation to complete the task. Now, sometimes that obligation centers around our family while other obligations come from work… but regardless of the source, it’s not unusual to find that most of our time is spent working on an agenda that was given to us by someone else.

As a result, we tend to put off our own list of “shoulds” for the simple reason that we’re tired of doing what we’re told… just once, our subconscious thinks, I should be able to do what I want… not what I should.

And so the shoulds never get done.

But this mindset is exactly what keeps us from being successful on a diet or writing that book or cleaning out that closet. It’s what keeps us just a few steps away from the life we really want while our frustration builds because we’re not getting any closer to our goals.

It is in fact, the most dangerous excuse of all because it’s disguised as self-indulgence.

So, the next time you’re feeling frustrated that you’re not where you want to be, take a long hard look at your current to-do list… are there actions on that list that will bring you closer to your goals? If the answer is no, you have a problem… until your goals get the same commitment you apply to everything else in your life, you won’t achieve what you want to achieve.

And you’ll never experience the true satisfaction of turning “shoulds” into “done”.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Summer Solstice marks the beginning of summer and occurs when the North Pole is tilted toward the Sun. At Summer Solstice or Midsummer, the sun is at its peak. The days are at their longest. Midsummer is the midpoint of the growing season, halfway between planting and harvest.

Midsummer Day, feast of the nativity of St. John the Baptist, June 24.  The preceding night is  midsummer night or St. John's Eve, and because it comes near the solstice, it is in many parts of Europe connected with magic.  Great bonfires are built and there is merrymaking.  Emphasis on love and lovers on this night undoubtedly reflects old fertility rites.

The Columbia Viking Desk Encyclopedia - Third Edition, The Viking press 1953
Midsummer's Eve  23 June, the night before Midsummer's Day, is widely held to one of the most magical times in the year and is thus a favoured date for the holding of witches' SABBATS.  Marking the moment when the sun's power gradually starts to diminish and a time when the forces of darkness are reputed to be especially active, Midsummer's eve was formerly considered an ideal time to probe into what the future might have in store.  For this reason, witches throughout Europe once broke open hens' eggs on this night in order to divine from the contents things to come, or would rise spirits so as to question them about whatever might lie wait.

Other witches might take advantage of the date to gather St. John's wort, which was supposed to be great benefit in the treatment of nervous disorders, in assisting barren women to become pregnant and in preventing the passage of malevolent spirits.  The plant had to be gathered on Midsummer's Eve in order to be effective (some authorities stipulated that the person collecting it had to pick the plant while entirely naked) and care had to be taken not to step on the flower.  If this happened, a fairy horse might rear up beneath the culprit and carry him or her off on a wild ride that might last all night and end up in some remote and desolate place.

Women who become pregnant on Midsummer's Eve were expected to bear children with the dubious gift ov the evil eye.

Life is too short to wake up with regrets..
So love the people who treat you right..
Forget about the ones who don't.
Believe everything happens for a reason.
If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

Take a brief moment to reflect on the purpose of your life. It is essential to have a picture in your mind of the direction of your life. Try to do this in the morning when spiritual energy is at its peak.  Accept things as they are, and be patient.

Just because someone at your work or school says that no one is interested in what you have to say does not mean that that's true! If you hear this kind of talk from anyone today, you should be suspicious. It's going to be pretty darned obvious that they are playing major mind games with you. You should only believe things your hear with your own ears and see with your own eyes. Second- or third-hand information is nothing but gossip -- and it should be treated as such.

The spiritual universe is constantly speaking to us. It is your job to stop being deaf to the words. Listen actively by opening both your heart and your mind; your spirit will follow.

The stars are gearing up for some major activity this month, and they won't waste a minute getting started!   In fact, on June 1, Mercury and Venus kick start the action with a pleasant, upbeat alignment in Gemini that will be full of parties, flirting and all things social.

Then, on June 4, the Sagittarius Moon opposes the Gemini Sun, bringing you a spectacular Lunar Eclipse. This is your reminder to balance the logical needs of your mind with the emotional desires of the heart. But watch out ... Mars will also be on the scene, opposing this eclipse, and putting everyone on edge.

Also on the 4th, Neptune will turn retrograde in Pisces, continuing to move backwards until early November. Creativity and spirituality will slow down as you take time to consider what’s really best for you.

A major transit will occur on June 11 as Jupiter takes a giant leap from Taurus into Gemini, where it will stay for the entire year! If you’ve ever wanted to broaden your horizons, this is the year to do it. Jupiter in Gemini will encourage you to explore new ideas, meet new people and hear all sides of the story.

On June 13, you'll feel a bit more grounded as the Sun and Saturn bring practicality back to your world.   Then, on June 20, the Sun moves into Cancer bringing the focus home, and possibly leaving you a bit more emotional than usual.

The end of the month will be especially bumpy and rocky, starting with an exact square forming between Uranus and Pluto on June 24. These two planets have been wreaking havoc and causing disruptions, upheavals and rebellions for the last two years as they've moved closer into alignment, and on this day, it will all come together. Typically this represents a changing of the old order, which can feel unstable and insecure, as you’re no longer what you used to be, but you haven't yet achieved what you’ll become. This may be hard and change may seem slow to take over, but hang in there! The end results will be worth it!

June 25 will feel like a respite as Jupiter and Neptune square each other, but in actuality, your expectations will soar too high, likely leading to disappointment.

Fortunately, also on the 25th, Saturn in Libra will move direct, adding more sense and structure to your world.   Then, June 27 will see Venus also turn direct in Gemini, adding zest to your romances and social scene.

Finally, Uranus and Pluto steal the stage again on June 29, ending the month with one opposing and the other squaring the Cancer Sun. Pluto will grip tightly for control, while Uranus will fight tooth and nail for freedom. At the very least, this tug of war will ensure that the end of June is action-packed!

But this forecast is only a taste of what's to come this month -- there's so much more astrological activity happening behind the scenes of your personal chart. To get in the state of living is very simple. Just live! A spiritual life is not meant to be one in the cold shadows of a dark temple, but in the light and heat of the living. Celebrate every moment, because every moment is worth celebrating.
Learn from your mistakes, but it is even more important to learn from your successes. Doing the right thing for your spirit means learning the good and making a habit of that. When you focus on mistakes, you only see errors.
