Brid is the Goddess of fire, fertility, energy and birth.
The Goddess, Brid is the daughter of the Great God, Dagna, who had great skill in all his undertakings. He is the ruler of the Tautha d' Dannan "The Land of the Little People." Her foster mother is the Lady of the Lake, a well-known magical instructor. The two empowered her with wisdom and the beauty of nature.
Brid was born at dawn. Her beauty was seen as the dark began to fade and bright light emerged. At Imbolc she is in her maiden aspect.
When we feel low, we call upon Brid to help energize and motivate ourselves. She instructs us to follow our intuition. Learning to listen to the eternal nudges leads us to a real solution. It will help to take control to promote a needed change.
TOOLS: Earth - mixture of sage(wisdom) and acacia(aids psychic powers, meditation) in an earthenware bowel. A carnation(offering for the Goddess)
Air - elder flower - energy, power, strength or chamomile - meditation Fire - white beeswax candle - Lady and Lord together and meditation Water - snow gathered and blessed at the last full moon
Place the white beeswax candle, carnation, and bowl with herb mixture center. Sprinkle the melted snow (with your projective hand-the one you write with) in a clockwise (deosil, movement is symbolic of life, positive energies) direction to connect the four elements, north-earth, east-water, south-fire, west-air, and then north and say: "I PURIFY THIS SPACE, CHANGING FORM, BECOMING A SACRED CIRCLE, REQUESTING ONLY LOVE SHALL EMERGE."
Rest yourself before the lit white, beeswax candle, hands on knees, palms up. Sit and focus on the burning flame. Take a few deep breaths. Gingerly, sprinkle the herb mixture onto the fire and say: BRID, I REQUEST YOU SHARE YOUR LIGHT, STRENGTH, PLEASE GUIDE.
With hands on knees, palms up meditate while focusing on the flame. Allow the candle to burn down. Write down in your Book of Shadows everything you saw, heard and felt. Say farewell to Brid. Give thanks for her presence. Stand pierce the air at waist level with you receptive hand ( the hand through which energy is received into the body) and walk anti-clockwise motion visualizing the energy entering your hand, up your arm and then into your entire body.

Spend time cleaning out what is no longer needed within your home. Cleaning is essential at this time of year. Start in one room and during the week work your way through the house, purifying and letting go of the old to make room for the new. Donate what is no longer needed-clothes, furniture and toys.
